On November 27th at 18:00, the IEEE student branch hosted an insightful session of “IEEE’s After Hours” featuring Dr. Melvin Haas, founder of ISOCHRONIC AG and a distinguished EPFL alumnis. In a compelling talk titled “From Invention to Industrial Automation Revolution,” Dr. Haas shared his journey of transforming a core technical concept into a disruptive force in the robotics industry.

The presentation delved into the engineering challenges and creative breakthroughs behind reinventing pick-and-place robotics, moving beyond traditional limitations to achieve unprecedented industrial efficiency. Dr. Haas bridged the gap between academic theory and real-world entrepreneurship, offering attendees a rare look at:
- The “Invention” Phase: How to identify fundamental flaws in current automation standards.
- The Scaling Journey: Navigating the transition from a laboratory prototype to an industrial-grade solution.
- The Future of Automation: What is required to lead a revolution in a competitive global market.

The evening concluded with a lively networking session over apéro and pizza, where students engaged in deeper discussions about the future of robotics and the startup ecosystem at EPFL.
